Christmas Love

Last night I took a walk in the snow
Couples holding hands, places to go
Seems like everyone but me is in love
Santa can you hear me

Lauren was doing her last minute Christmas shopping. She had her big red bags with a Christmas tree on them, full of gifts for people. She wasn’t in a huge hurry to get home, but it was getting pretty late. She just didn’t want to go home to wrapping gifts, when the fresh snow was falling, and the city was busy. The green and red lights lit up the stores, street lamps with little wreaths and red bows. Everyone you pass would wish you a very merry Christmas; maybe that’s why Christmas is one of my favorite holidays.

I signed my letter that's sealed with a kiss
I sent it off, and just said this
I know exactly what I want this year
Santa can you hear me

I sat there, on the cold, snowy bench and put my bags down. They were getting to me, so heavy and my car is in the shop. I watched the people passing me by, all the couples and new family’s with their young children, pointing in the store windows, looking at all the new toys they wanted. I smiled, knowing some day I could have that, but finding the right guy is never easy for someone, or is it? I’m still young to be thinking about that. I’m only 16. But true love can strike up any minute.

I slowly got up, looking at all the bags I had to carried and sighed. Then out of nowhere, I heard a man say hello to me. I looked up quickly, a boy about my age, with is long heavy coat and hat, looking at me smiling. “You need some help? For a lady like you, I don’t see how you could carry all of that!” he laughed. I smiled at him. He didn’t give me the feeling that he was up to something, he seemed much different than that.

I grabbed the lighter ones and he took the heavy. “Geez, what did you buy? Those people must mean a lot to get them all this!” “Yes they do mean a lot to me, living by myself isn’t easy, but I get by.” “Oh really? Do you share it with your boyfriend or something?” Lauren turned her head back and looked at him, with a grin on her face. She turned her head back to where she was going and said, “ What boyfriend? Ha! Being on my own with no worries about some guy is great.” “Well guys aren’t all that bad.” They stopped at the street corner, waiting for the walk signals to go off. “Really? Guys aren’t that bad huh?” Lauren said sarcastically. The man just looked at her with his big chocolate eyes and smiled at her, “You just have to get to know one to find out.” The signals turned green.

Christmas Eve, I just can't sleep
Would I be wrong, for taking a peek?

“And I suppose you got women all figured out huh?” she said looking at the ground. “Naa, I have to get to know one myself, I’ve heard stories, but hey, they are just stories.” He smiled and looked at the shop windows. “So, what’s your name?” “Lauren, you?” “My name is…uhh Goku. I like your name, I never met a Lauren before.” “Well it’s about time you did…” J

I really hope that you're on your way
With something special for me in your sleigh

Santa can you hear me

They went down a couple more blocks; talking and laughing, time flying by so fast. Lauren walked up to her door, unlocked it and invited him in for a cup of hot chocolate. “Do you have to be anywhere tonight?” “Oh no, I could hang out, and get to know you, could I?” “Doesn’t bother me Goku, let me check the TV listings to see what Christmas movies are on.” Lauren went into the other room and came back with the book and went to poor herself some hot chocolate from the pot when it was gone. Lauren looked up at Goku. “Umm…you make a real good hot chocolate, sorry, I’ll make you some.” Goku got up and went and poured chocolate syrup and milk into the pot and began to stir.

They had their hot chocolate, watched some old Christmas classic movies and Goku said he better get back to his apartment. Lauren was to see him to the door. Goku reached into his pocket and gave her his number and also pulled out a small box. Lauren was puzzled. “Ya know, I never really had a girlfriend before or someone special in my life, but getting to know you makes my Christmas even better. I’ve been saving this and I would like you to have it. “Oh no, Goku you don’t have to really.” “I want you to have it, please Lauren.” Goku went passed her and put in under her tree. “Now no peeking.” “Haha, I won’t I promise Goku, hey we should go out to lunch sometime.” “ Is that a date?” he wondered, heart racing. “You could call it that.” She smiled cheerfully.

Lauren opened the door, and walked him out. They stood there in front of the door, as if waiting for something. The cool breeze brushed by and in an instant Lauren cuddled up to Goku. Goku was kinda shocked but smiled down at her and put his arms around her and hugged her goodbye. Just then his hat blew up, almost on purpose when he saw mistletoe hanging in front of the door.

Lauren looked up to see what he was looking at and she remembered when he hung it there. He looked into her eyes and smiled. Lauren lost herself in his chocolate eyes, so deep and so warm. Just then she felt herself lift up and softly kissing his warm lips. They parted and looked into each other’s eyes and softly kissed again. After what seemed like an eternity, Goku said he last goodbye, and walked down the street, with that smile on his face and with love on his lips.

The next morning Lauren awoke, wondering if it was all a dream. She sat up, with the coldness in the room, surrounding her, she quickly put on her robe and slippers. She quickly tossed the quilts over the bed and made her way to the bathroom and brushed her long dark hair. She then went to the kitchen and put on a pot of hot chocolate and turned on the kitchen counter TV, with the news man telling everyone to have a very merry Christmas. Her wondering eyes made it to the tree, where there lay that green box.

She left the pot on the stove and went over too the tree, despite of the other gifts she had received, this one caught her eye and she was curious to see what he had given her that meant so much to him. She sat down at picked it up, it wasn’t too heavy, but not too light. She was afraid to shake it so she opened it. She had never seen anything like it or this beautiful. A round golden shiny ball, with four red stars on it. She saw her reflection through it and smiled at the round mysterious ball. “This is a beautiful gift, I wonder what it does though…” She saw that wasn’t the only gift in there. At the bottom was a piece of paper, and it said. “This is one of the seven mysterious treasures of the world. Believe it or not, but seven of these can grant wishes. You gave me my wish, for making me so happy. Now it’s your turn to have and to hold your own wishes. I love you.”

(Oh Santa, can you hear me?)

Lauren couldn’t believe it. Her wish already came true. She then realized she loved him. And he loved her. She put the special golden ball on the coffee table and just looked at it, with a smile. Suddenly, there came a knock at the door. Goku.
