What do their names mean anyway???

 

Here is the section of the site where you can find out what the Dragonball Z characters names actually mean. I have a magazine all about it, and I thought I would like to share it with you, enjoy!

 

~Son Family~

Goku: Based on the main character in an ancient Chinese legend, His Yu Chi (Shee Yo Ji)   In Goku's name, the word "ku" means sky.

Kakarot (Goku): means carrot

Gohan: Cooked rice and the suffix for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Goten: the word "ten" means heaven.

Videl: Rearrange the words and her name means "devil"

Pan: means bread in Japanese and Spanish!

Mister Satan: Means Prince of Darkness  (haha, right!)

~Briefs Family~

Bulma: Stands For Bloomers.

Dr. Briefs: Well, it means briefs, duh...

Trunks: Boxers

Bra: Well, you know...

Vegeta: Vegetable

~Krillin's Family~

Krillin: Chestnut

Marron: French Chestnut

~Others~

Raditz:  Radish

Frieza, King Cold and Coola: Chilly

Jeice: Juice

Burter: Butter

Guldo: yogurt

Recoome: cream

Ginyu Force: Say hello to the Ginyu force! Ginyu means milk. So really they are saying, " Say hello to the milk Force!!"

Saiyan: Japanese version as Saiyan-jin or Saiya people. Jumbled version of the Japanese word Yasia which means Vegetable.

Dende: To describe any mollusk of the Gastropod class. (what???)

Piccolo: Well he's named at the piccolo, the cousin of the flute

Tein: Tein Chun Fan, a type of fried rice

Chiaotzu: dumpling

Yamcha: mean "dim sum" a form of food similar to dumplings
